Moss is a way of life in the Northwest. Moss typically grows in locations where conditions are shady and moist. Roofs are often covered with moss, especially when they are heavily shaded by trees around the property. We will treat the roof with a liquid moss killer. Our technique will be to treat each row of shingles to be sure we get complete coverage.
After treatment the moss plants will turn dark brown or black. Wind and rain will knock some of the plant material off but it will probably be necessary for you to sweep or power wash the bulk of the dead material off.
It is recommended that composition shingle roof surfaces be treated every other year and tile roofs be treated annually to keep them free of moss.
