Photinia Disease Control Program

Photinia are often affected by leaf spot. Leaf spot is a common disease and the control measures are designed to protect the new growth as it emerges.

Our program consists of four fungicide treatments in the spring. The first treatment is made as the new leaves emerge. Subsequent treatments are made at 14-21 day intervals depending upon weather conditions.

This treatment program will not have any effect on the older leaves that are already infected. However, as the program progresses year to year the older leaves fall off and are replaced by the newer treated leaves. It is important to be sure that leaves already diseased with leaf spot are raked up and disposed of. Leaving them on the ground at the base of the plant only contaminates the soil and perpetuates the cycle.
